North Somerset recycling collections a day behind schedule

Recycling collections across North Somerset are a day behind schedule because of a surge in items being recycled over the Christmas period.
During the festive season, contractors recorded a 45 per cent increase in the amount of waste being recycled – compared to an increase of 20 per cent nationally.
Contractor May Gurney has drafted in eight extra vehicles to deal with the 166 tonnes collected on Monday, from 115 tonnes on a normal Monday.
